This policy brief, prepared by IGBC as part of the INDICATE Pilot project, provides an overview of whole-life carbon assessments within the Irish built environment.

IGBC, as part of the INDICATE Pilot project, developed a prototype Life Cycle GWP Assessment Methodology for Ireland which has been applied to 50 current buildings to establish a baseline of the carbon impact of building activities in Ireland.

Key project partners reflect on the project’s outcomes and insights from European building-level whole life carbon (WLC) data. The INDICATE Pilot was implemented in Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Spain between 2022 and 2024, supporting evidence-based approaches to whole life carbon assessment across Europe.
