Analysis of Life Cycle Greenhouse Gas Emission of EU Buildings and Construction
This report by the European Commission (DG GROW) analyses the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of EU buildings and construction provides important insights into how the sector can reduce whole life carbon (WLC) emissions and support Europe’s climate goals. The study assesses emissions across the full lifecycle of buildings and models different strategies and policy scenarios to reduce emissions from the EU building stock through to 2050.
The report was developed by Ramboll, Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE), KU Leuven and TU Graz. Several of these organisations are also partners in the INDICATE LIFE project, strengthening links between research and initiatives working to improve WLC data, benchmarks and policymaking across Europe.
